Trance-Formation was commissioned by percussionist Krystina Marcoux for a recital of all commissioned works in Montreal. The work constantly explores the transformation of acoustic and electronic sounds. The various sounds and musical ideas are first introduced by Krystina and then “trance-formed” in the pre-recorded audio playback through DJ effects such as delay, phasing and modulation. Trance-Formation features a variety of electronic and popular genres and is based on the underlying theme of “love and lust”, given to me by the commissioner.
